As many of you know, we spent last Winter fund-raising for the spinal cord unit for clients with spinal cord injury. We then spent the Spring fundraising for the equipment for the unit. We were delighted with the response from all of our supporters and we were able to send the funds for the buildings early in the year. Last week we sent the funds for the exercise equipment as well as for beds and kitchen needs. SAMUHA has already renovated buildings at a vacant campus to house 5 clients with spinal cord injury and all has been made wheel-chair accessible. There will be an area for vocational training as well as the physio gym.
Hilary will be returning to India in January with 3 more physio students from UBC. Hampanna has assured us that the spinal cord centre will be up and running by then, which is very exciting. At the end of November we will again be holding our annual fund-raising dinners at the Dana Mandi restaurant. The funds raised from our dinners go directly to program funding to enable SAMUHA to carry on all their disability work for the year in 2013. We are very thankful to all the generous people of Prince George who make all this possible. We couldn’t do it without you. We look forward to seeing you at the Dana Mandi restaurant and you will have a chance to see slides of the new rehabilitation centre demonstrating how these funds were used.
Thank you,
Hilary and the SODA team
